Regularly cleaning and maintaining a billiards table is key to prolonging its life. However, no matter how careful you are, someone will always end up spilling something on it. The best way to retain the brand-new look of a billiards table is to remove any stain quickly.
You’d be surprised to find that there are a handful of materials in your own kitchen that can easily get the job done and save your table. These include ice, vinegar, baking soda, water, soft cloth, and a dry towel. Inexpensive and accessible, these homemade cleansers can reduce the damage caused by any type of stain. Once you’ve got these in hand, simply do the following:
- Dab the stain with a cube of ice and then let the cube sit. The cold water will ease out the stain. The faster you counter the stain with water, the bigger your chance of preventing bigger damage.
- Soak a piece of soft cloth with vinegar and gently pat the affected region. Continue dabbing the table with the vinegar solution until the stain vanishes.
- For stains that are more difficult to remove, mix baking soda with vinegar to make a paste. Using the cloth, gently scrub a small blot of the paste onto the stain. Wait for the stain to be lifted by the homemade paste.
- Use a wet cloth to remove the paste residue and use a dry one to leave the affected area completely dry.
